from 519 reviewsWe tried a couple other bike leashes before we bought this one. There is no comparison, the bike tow leash is super safe, really well made and our dog learned instantly how to walk/run on it.
I was hurt in a rear end collision in 2024 which has prevented me from being able to run with my doberman Tank like we did before the accident. Now because of the bike tow leash I can take him out at a pace he loves. The BTL was easy to install with the instructions and we went on our first ride immediately. My dog was so happy to run again and I was thankful to be able to enjoy that with him again. Without the BTL I don't know if I could have ever safely run my dog again. Thank you for inventing this for families like us.
With my wife running rescues we have always had dogs in the house. But none of them required as much exercise as Sampson, our 4yr old 75lb Doberman. After struggling to keep up with him while running, I figured I would try the biketow leash. The main reason was the attachment point being low enough that he wouldn't pull me over if everything goes south. Most other bike attachments I looked at hook below the seat and that is a recipe for disaster if you have a large breed. Wow, what a difference. We ride a 3-4 mile loop every other day, he is in a full run ~18 mph the entire time. He absolutely loves it and will pull me along for about half the ride. But when he gets home he is exhausted and much easier to be with for the next two days. Sampson and I thank you for taking the initiative a creating this great system. We have been using the system for about 3 months. I will post some pics and videos shortly. Thanks again
I love going on bike rides with my belgian shepherd, we went on a cycle track to the beach it was magic ! She is usually bike/joggers reactive but she is getting used to seeing a lot of bikes and joggers during our bike rides 😍
I feel like she loves her new activity and I feel so much more safe compared to my last springer bike attachement that I barely used because she reacted to something and went in front of the bike.
The customer service was very good they made sure I ordered everything I needed to fit my bike as I ordered from France and couldn't re order anytime soon!
Thank you for the BTL !!
Much better than leash under seat or attachments with the pipe to the side. The pipe always moved forward so leg was pushing against it on the down stride. Now my dog can't go ahead of the front tire or pull me off to the side. He loves running along side. Customer service was also great! We purchased a new bike and was very helpful getting the right attachment and return.
I purchased a BTL for the right side with the collar. Our dog responded great, it's a very safe product for both the rider and the dog. I highly recommend it. Thank you!
This product is the best available, not even comparable to the standard seat post bar attachments. Thanks to the exceptional engineering, design, and quality of this product, I can safely take my highly reactive dog outside, with minimal/ no training. A dog that is terrified of everything and lunges unexpectedly. Giving us both fresh air, exercise, and desperately needed bonding. This product has given a chance for a dog that would otherwise have to be returned to the shelter and, in all likelihood, euthanized. I don't know if we'll make it, but it's giving us a chance. Thank You!!!
Reliable attachment, keeps me and my dog safe.
I cannot say enough good things about the bike tow leash. I have a 70lb strong human reactive dutch shepherd/malinois mix. I had canicrossed with him and was looking for a safe way to cycle with him. Unfortunately, because of his aggression I can't bikejor with him safely as he occasionally lunges at strangers. Fortunately, I found this product. Despite all the good reviews I read I was a bit hesitant to believe that my dog wouldn't be able to pull me over. Our very first cycle together he had a reaction and tried to lunge sideways and sure enough I didn't even budge - I just kept pedaling and we moved on.
Now I've taken him out every other day working to build endurance and we have SO MUCH FUN. He's finally able to run his heart out while respecting leash laws and I get to absolutely fly along with him. My only concern is that he does all the work so I'm not getting the cycling benefits! (haha).
There are very few products I've gotten that I would say have genuinely changed my routine and relationship with my dog for the better but this is definitely one. I recommend it to everyone, especially people looking for a safe and fun way to exercise reactive dogs. It's been a while since I've been able to go out and about the neighborhood completely stress free with my guy, but thanks to this bike tow we are just having a blast together again. It also helps get him in a good, well exercised headspace to work on his reactivity training. I've recommended this product to three people in person within the first week of using it and I won't stop talking about it anytime soon.
Mike was a legend helping us get properly set up and recommending the correct kit we needed for my specific bike (I got a right sided tow so that I would be blocking my dog from oncoming traffic on trails to aid his reactions). All around just a great experience and fantastic product. 10/10 I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Great product. Replaced another type of product that did not work well.
This bicycle towing device works very well on a 17lb miniature schnauzer whose focus is on everything around him. Tripp my little schnauzer pulled me off the bicycle at least a half a dozen times in the past month while holding the leash in my left hand on the handlebars. He is so quick, reactionary and high strung he catches me off guard and I am thrown off balance. This is a well-trained service dog and clearly these behaviors are not acceptable, they are frustrating. Bicycling is the best way drain Tripp's energy. I spent hours researching the website for safe towing devices for a small dog and found two. My choice was the Bike Tow Leash due to its design and function. My gut told me it is the right choice! So far, it has only been used once. After ten minutes Tripp realized he could not go behind, in front of bike, be distracted by other animals or under the wheels no matter how much he tried and pulled. We will have many good rides in the future as the dog fully accepts his position and I already experienced positive reactions from a very smart typically stubborn schnauzer whom I love dearly. Having him learn to walk/jog on the offside (right) confused Tripp at first, it did not take him long to figure it out. Most importantly we were both safe on the road. The design and function of the tow leash is as the designer explained to me and worth it. I highly recommend it for large and small dogs and truly believe it is the best on the market.
I live in a rural area with a lot of loose dogs. With the tow leash I am able to ride with all three dogs (two
Border Collies and an Aussie). Once three pit bulls ran out at us and all three dogs pulled like crazy. I was able to chase them off with a foghorn but the bike never even rocked. The tow leash kept us all safe. Mike recommended that I ride with all three dogs on one side. I'm not crazy about this because the outside dog tends to crowd the other two into the trike because he or she feels too far from me. I want to get another tow leash and run one dog off the other side. I couldn't be happier with this leash and the couplers that I also bought.
I haven't been on a bike in decades but my new behaviorist/trainer said my girl needs to get more than her daily 2 hour walk and recommended the bike tow leash. I bought a 'trike' thinking I'd be safer, installed the bike tow leash and O M G we had a BLAST!!! Even when she decided she was going to run after some neighbor dogs who give her grief, I was able to control the bike with minimal drift. I love this thing SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!! I tell everyone about it and am making the trike available to neighbors with dogs to try. She is finally happy, smiling and relaxed for the first time since her rescue 2 years ago. So worth every penny. THANK YOU!!!! (And Thanks Todd Langston @ ocpacklife for bringing me to you!)
Bought the bike tow leash to exercise my 4 year old Vizsla who never ever gets tired. She took to it immediately and looks forward to our rides. We took it camping and had no problems with distractions. If she pulls I barely feel it. So happy we got this and now have a new way to exercise together. I also purchased the right side attachment and collar. Happy customer!!
The Bike Tow Leash has given my students so much freedom with their service dogs. Thank you so much for designing this excellent tool for disabled people in wheelchairs.
I have had this product for about 6 months now and taken my 1 year old Malinois Pyrenees mix on about 10-15 bike rides using this product. She absolutely loves it. We don't go very far with it as she is still growing and we want to protect her joints. She is young and not particularly well trained, as in - pulls hard on the leash, high prey drive, sometimes overly excited with other dogs, yet it still works exactly as intended. I have to pay attention to her and be aware of her movements, but if she starts to pull she is redirected and after a moment will continue moving with the bike. I have never had any issues with her while turning or had any trouble with her going behind the bike as another user mentioned (im not sure how she could). I am beyond thrilled to have a way for her to join me biking and she so clearly enjoys it. With her being a large, 70 lb dog I was nervous about finding a safe way to bike with her but this is just what we needed. For what its worth, I use a harness as that feels less risky to me. I would highly recommend this product to anyone and am really pleased with it.
Do not even think about this unless your dog is extremely well trained. If that is the case then I think this product is probably the best one out there for biking with your animal.
My Belgium Malinois has had extensive obedience training. I'm sure I could enter shows and win gold ribbon awards if i wanted to.
That being said, i had no trouble at all getting my dog acquainted with this leash. We were riding around within 5 minutes of me introducing it,
I went with the right side option as I feel this is the ONLY way to go (at least in USA.)
On one of the very first right turns we made, i guess my dog got a little nervous and decided go go around the back wheel to the left side of the bike. This of coarse caused a crash. We took right turns very slowly and wide for awhile until my dog got more accustomed.
There was a similar incident when we came upon someone walking two large dogs haphazardly on leashes. i guess my dog just feels more protected and wants to get on my left side when on my left when dealing with new possible threatening situations. We now slow down or stop when other dogs are approaching.
Today we were out for a short ride in my neighborhood when all of a sudden I could feel my dog pulling and when i looked back I saw my dog was being attacked by an unleashed pit-bull. I stopped and jumped off my bike and because my dog as wearing a Martingale style collar my dog was able to release itself from the bike leash. Nevertheless, I had to jump in and separate the two dogs. None of us were injured, but this was certainly an unpleasant experience.
Taking all this into account I would have to say DO NOT use a bike leash setup with your dog unless your dog is extremely well trained at the very least with recall and healing.
For now, I will probably continue to use this, but only with caution at ALL times.
